About the artist

Edith Jakobs

Edith Jakobs is a Canadian visual artist living and working on the Sunshine Coast of British Columbia. Her paintings move between abstraction and landscape, using colour, texture, and movement to capture the feeling of water, mountains, weather, and place.

Creativity has been part of Edith's life since childhood. She was accepted into the intensive art program at C.W. Jefferys Collegiate Institute in Toronto before life led her into business, where she built a successful career and was named Canadian Entrepreneur of the Year in 1999 in the turnaround category.

After stepping away from work for health reasons in 2010, Edith returned more fully to painting. Her current work reflects a long relationship with colour, nature, travel, and the quiet emotional pull of the coast.

Selected film and television placements

Edith's artwork has appeared in productions including The Handmaid's Tale, Suits, Workin' Moms, Departure, The Hot Zone, Riviera, Taken, Conviction, and others.
